Naval Maritime Academy (NAMAC), Mumbai is a premier Maritime Training Institute (MTI) conducting STCW Modular and Offshore Courses approved by the Director General of Shipping (DGS), Government of India. NAMAC is a pioneer in conducting offshore safety courses adhering to the publicly available international quality standards in meeting the requirements of the Offshore Industry.
Located on the sea front, away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis, NAMAC provides an enviable nautical environment conducive for maritime and offshore training. RC Church and Kendriya Vidyalaya No 3 provide well known landmarks to reach the Academy which is well connected by BEST buses and taxi service from both CST and Churchgate Stations.
NAMAC has been graded ‘Grade A1 - Outstanding’ by MMD, Mumbai during the Comprehensive Inspection Program (CIP) for MTIs conducting Modular courses. NAMAC conforms to the requirement of ISO 9001 : 2015 and 14001 : 2015 as assessed by ABS Quality Evaluation. NAMAC was conferred with Samudra Manthan Award 2011 for being the best Offshore Training Institute in India.

The Executive Board comprising of 8 Trustees headed by a Chairman, the Board meets as required to decide on policy issues that enhance training.
The faculty is drawn from qualified seafarers of both the Merchant and Indian Navy. The permanent and visiting lecturers include Extra Masters, Master Mariners, Chief Engineers, QHSE experts from the offshore industry, Doctors, Educational specialists and Indian Naval Officers with expertise on specialised subjects viz marine commandos, helicopter pilots etc. The instructors are senior retired Naval Sailors who have vast experience in seamanship and fire fighting.
Feedback on various aspects of training & administrative support is obtained from candidates who undergo courses at NAMAC. This feedback is obtained just prior to course completion.
The Naval Maritime Academy welcomes further feedback from companies who sponsor candidates for courses at NAMAC.
Every NAMAC certificate carries a 16-digit alphanumeric code generated randomly whilst generating the certificate on successful completion of the course by the candidate. NAMAC website offers a menu ‘Verify’ that provides a facility to enter the above-mentioned 16-digit code to check for the veracity / authenticity of certificates.

Passenger Ship Familiarisation (Crowd Management) conforming to STCW 2010 requirements is being conducted at the Naval Maritime Academy with immediate effect. The certificate issued on successful completion of the course will be in accordance with the STCW Convention and Code, as amended in 2010. DG Shipping Training Ciircular No 05 of 2016 dated 12 Aug 2016 refers.
